TREATMENT OF PHOTO AGING
Age or brown spots | Rosacea and redness | Enlarged pores | Roughly textured skin | Fine lines
A number of factors can aggravate or accelerate the natural aging process, particularly UV rays. Exposure to the sun leads to premature aging of the skin (known as photo aging) characterized by the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, brown spots and redness, thickening of the skin, enlargement of the pores and drying and loosening of the skin tissues.
Age spots (lentigines) vary in size and shape and may be isolated in areas that receive the most sun exposure: face, neck, chest, forearms and hands.
These brown spots can be erased or reduced using a technology called IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light), also known as photo rejuvenation. A glycolic acid peel can also be used.
The complex network of veins and small capillaries in the face can become damaged over time and as a result of environmental factors. Some people have red patches, broken capillaries or spider veins (telangiectasias). This can be corrected with a technology known as IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) i.e. photo rejuvenationor with Vbeam™ (pulse dye) laser.
Skin pores are generally small, but certain factors can contribute to their enlargement. This problem can be treated with l'IPL™ and glycolic acid peels.
Exposure to UV rays can make the skin rough over the years. Your skin can be smoothed with l'IPL™ and daily application of Jouviance - Magistral Complex™.
Fine lines can be smoothed out with glycolic acid peels and daily application of Jouviance - Magistral Complex™. www.jouviance.com.
Solutions to Photo Aging
IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) or Photorejuvenation
Also known as photo rejuvenation, IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) is a noninvasive technology involving the application of pulsed light beams to the face or other areas such as the neck, arms, hands, legs and chest to erase brown spots and red patches, eliminate rough skin and reduce pore size.
An anesthetic cream (EMLA or Maxilene® 5%) should be applied an hour before the session. It is therefore important to come to your appointment an hour early to apply the cream to the area that will be treated.
IPL™ treatment generally requires four to six 30 to 45 minute sessions and produces excellent long-term results. No recovery time is required and you can resume your normal activities on the day of the session itself.

Vbeam™ (Candela) Laser
The Vbeam™ laser delivers an intense but gentle burst of laser light to the skin that selectively coagulates the blood vessels of certain types of vascular lesions. It can be used to eliminate redness in the face and effectively treat rosacea. Depending on the case, two to five treatments may be required.
Glycolic Acid Peel
The glycolic acid peel is an exfoliating treatment used to reduce the size of facial pores, give the face a brighter appearance and fresher texture and reduce brown spots.
The treatment involves the application of glycolic acid at a concentration ranging from 35 to 70%.
