DermatologieAre Botox injections dangerous?

DermatologieBotox has been used safely and successfully in neurology for the past 20 years and in ophthalmology for about 15 years to treat a variety of eye problems. It has been used in dermatology for about 12 years.

DermatologieWhat is IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light)?

DermatologieAlso known as photo rejuvenation, IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) is a noninvasive technology involving the application of pulsed light beams to the face or other areas such as the neck, arms, hands, legs and chest to erase brown spots and red patches, eliminate roughly textured skin and reduce pore size.

DermatologieHow does IPL™ work?

DermatologieThe flashes of light emitted turn into heat when they penetrate the target tissues under the skin surface. The heat is absorbed by melanin, which is fragmented and eliminated by exfoliation (brown spots flake off), by red blood cell coagulation (redness disappears), by the sebaceous glands (pores shrink) and by collagen (surface becomes smoother).

DermatologieHow many IPL™ sessions are required?

DermatologieIPL™ treatment generally requires four to six 30 to 45 minute sessions and produces excellent long-term results. It is important to come to your appointment an hour early to apply a topical cream anesthetic to the area that will be treated.

DermatologieHow long do injectable implants last?

DermatologieMost implants last between three and twelve months. However, Dermalive® and Dermadeep®, new semi-permanent implants, may last up to several years.

DermatologieIs there a risk of allergic reaction with injectable implants?

DermatologieSome people may be sensitive to bovine collagen implants, which is why you will have two allergy tests before the doctor injects this type of implant.

DermatologieCan age-related sagging skin be firmed without surgery?

DermatologieThermAge® is a new technology that reduces the signs of aging in the skin. The procedure uses a radiofrequency device to heat the lower layers of the skin and tighten up the tissues.

DermatologieHow many ThermAge® sessions are required to firm facial tissues?

DermatologieA single session can produce tighter facial skin.

DermatologieAre ThermAge® results immediate?

DermatologieAfter one session, the results appear gradually over two to six months. The changes made to the collagen structure are permanent.
